Trump Demands Congress Pass Crypto Clarity Act at White House Summit

President Donald Trump assembled top cryptocurrency executives at the White House Wednesday, demanding Congress pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act before September 15th to lock in America’s lead over China in the global digital finance race.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, and CFTC Chair Mike Selig joined Trump at the summit.

Trump called the Clarity Act essential to keeping the United States ahead of international rivals.

“A fair version of the Clarity Act is necessary to ensure the United States remains at the forefront of global technological innovation and maintains its edge over international rivals like China.”

Industry leaders argued the legislation would provide legal certainty needed to drive capital investment and protect the crypto market from shifting regulatory climates under future administrations.

SEC Chairman Paul Atkins backed the push, noting that regulatory proposals from federal agencies require the statutory foundation only Congress can deliver.

CFTC Chairman Mike Selig said the Trump administration is positioning America to dominate crypto and artificial intelligence through new policies and the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.

Democrats are blocking the bill. They claim the draft fails to restrict officials from profiting off digital assets — a veiled shot at Trump’s crypto ventures.

Left-wing critics are demanding conflict-of-interest guardrails before they’ll allow a vote.

Republicans hold 53 seats in the Senate. They need 60 votes to overcome a procedural filibuster.

The September 15th vote is a key test before the midterms. Analysts say alternative regulatory proposals could tempt some lawmakers to delay.

Trump signed the GENIUS Act last year, establishing the first federal framework for payment stablecoins backed 100% by U.S. dollars or Treasury bills.

“A giant step to cement American dominance of global finance and crypto technology.”

The White House summit signals Trump’s determination to codify crypto market rules and lock in America’s position as the global leader in digital finance — if Democrats don’t kill the bill first.
