US and Iranian negotiators entered a second day of talks in Switzerland after what sources described as a rough opening session, as the Trump administration pushes for a diplomatic breakthrough on nuclear weapons and regional tensions.

The negotiations come amid heightened scrutiny of Iran’s nuclear program and continued proxy conflicts across the Middle East.

Vice President JD Vance is leading the US delegation in Switzerland, where Israeli President Isaac Herzog warned that Iran-backed proxies are actively sabotaging efforts to secure peace in Lebanon.

Herzog said Iranian-backed forces are undermining stability even as Western diplomats work to broker ceasefires and de-escalation agreements in the region.

The talks represent one of the most significant direct diplomatic engagements between Washington and Tehran since Trump returned to office.

President Trump’s Monday schedule includes signing executive orders at 3:30 PM and participating in two separate policy meetings later in the evening.

Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security announced record-high deportations under the Trump administration, marking a sharp increase in enforcement actions at the southern border.

In Latin America, a Trump-backed candidate declared victory in Colombia’s presidential election, continuing a rightward shift across the region as voters embrace conservative leadership on immigration, crime, and economic policy.
