At the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, former First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech, meant to unify and inspire, instead sparked some heat from a major figure on the liberal front. During her address, Obama championed the values of perseverance and honesty, likening Vice President Kamala Harris to her late mother, Marian Robinson, for embodying similar virtues. However, not everyone was buying what Obama was selling.
“If things don’t go our way, we don’t have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead. No!” Michelle said. “We don’t get to change the rules so we always win. We don’t get to change the rules so we always win. If we see a mountain in front of us, we don’t expect there to be an escalator waiting to take us to the top. No!”
WATCH:
Following the speech, Dr. Jill Stein, a notable figure on the left and perennial Green Party candidate, took to Twitter to voice a starkly different perspective. Stein accused the Democrats of hypocrisy, clashing sharply with the former First Lady’s message. “Stop the gaslighting. Right now, the Democrats are trying to sue us off multiple state ballots, hiring spies and infiltrators to sabotage us, and even withholding public funds we qualified for months ago,” Stein wrote.
“Democrats ABSOLUTELY cheat and change the rules to maintain their grip on power.”

Stein’s harsh critique points to broader tensions within the Democratic Party, where progressive elements often feel marginalized by the mainstream leadership’s strategies. The Democratic National Convention wraps up on Thursday evening, featuring the highlight of the week: Vice President Kamala Harris’ official acceptance of her party’s presidential nomination.
Former President Trump is scheduled to speak at the US-Mexico border in Arizona, and vice presidential nominee JD Vance will host an event in Georgia. This week, Republicans are making rounds in key battleground states, as a potential endorsement from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. looms.
REACTIONS:
Oh geez, so it’s not only Kennedy’s campaign that’s facing these tactics?
I’m not surprised. What can we do about it?

Fascist?
Anti democracy?
Win at any cost? That, of course, is the Democratic Party.
Keeping other people/parties off the ballot is cheating, pure and simple.

@MichelleObama…have any thoughts about what Dr. Stein just said?
Or do you want to pretend you and your husband don’t sit on top of a giant (and cush) Professional Managerial Class throne with tons of levers to manipulate the voice of independents while maintaining the party…

All these people have are words, BIG, EMOTIONAL WORDS! 4 years of total failure and turmoil – inflation, homelessness, wars, genocide – under the current administration whose VP is their current candidate, yet these fucking, full-of-shit figureheads have no shame to ask those…
