Fox News Montage Undercuts Trump’s 9-Week ‘Deal Any Day’ Iran Claims

Fox News anchor John Roberts delivered a reality check on President Trump’s repeated assurances that an Iran deal is imminent — nine weeks after the Feb. 28 strikes began.

A Fox montage aired Wednesday compiled Trump’s timeline of shifting promises, starting with his March 31 claim the U.S. would leave “in two or three weeks.”

Throughout April and May, the montage shows Trump saying a deal could happen “any day” and insisting Iran is “dying” to make one. By June, he claimed the war is in its “final throes” and would end “in two or three days.”

“That’s nine weeks of, ‘We’re close to a deal.’ At some point you’ve got to acknowledge it’s not happening.”

Roberts noted Trump has consistently described Iran as “on the ropes” despite no signed agreement materializing.

Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume agreed with Roberts’ assessment and offered a theory about the president’s messaging strategy.

“He’s dealing with the Iranians and telling the American public and consumers and the owners of stocks that we’re close to a deal in the hope perhaps that will calm the petroleum markets,” Hume said.

Hume added that Trump simultaneously warns Iran the U.S. is “ready to attack at any time,” creating what he called “a bit of a mystery here as to exactly where we are.”

The segment marks a rare instance of Fox offering direct skepticism of Trump’s Iran war timeline claims after nine consecutive weeks of unfulfilled “days away” predictions.
