Former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas confronted at the airport.

In a moment that truly underscores the power of holding our leaders accountable, former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas found himself at the receiving end of a conservative reporter’s pointed questions. This encounter, which took place at an airport, highlighted the stark contrast between the open border policies of the past and the secure border achievements under President Trump’s leadership.

Mayorkas, who was a prominent figure in the Biden administration, was notably responsible for what many viewed as a disastrous open border policy. His tenure was marred by negligence, leading to his historical impeachment – a first in nearly 150 years for a cabinet secretary.

In February 2024, the House convicted Mayorkas of two serious charges: “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law” concerning border enforcement, and “breach of public trust.” Despite this, the Senate later voted to dismiss the articles of impeachment.

Julio Rosas of Blaze Media caught up with Mayorkas at an airport and seized the opportunity to challenge him on his past actions. Rosas began by contrasting the current secure border under President Trump with the chaos during Mayorkas’s tenure.

“I wanted to ask you how it feels for the United States to have a secure border now that President Trump is in office, as opposed to when you were Secretary of Homeland Security,” Rosas boldly stated.

Mayorkas attempted to evade the questions, but Rosas persisted, pressing further on the topic of an open border.

Mayorkas remained silent, even as Rosas asked more probing questions:

  • “Do you regret allowing Tren de Aragua to gain a foothold in the United States, sir?”
  • “Do you have regret about losing track of all those millions of migrant children that were handed over to HHS?”
  • “How does it feel that because of the Biden-Harris administration policies, mass deportations actually gained majority support?”

With each pointed question, Mayorkas was left speechless. The encounter concluded with him hastily exiting the airport terminal, presumably to a waiting vehicle.
