Fox News host Shannon Bream pressed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz over his numerous “misstatements,” including the bizarre lie that he was in China during the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989, and asked him to defend his far-left record in an intense Fox News Sunday interview.
On the topic of abortion, Bream pointed to policies in Walz’s home state and questioned his commitment unrestricted abortion. “Abortion Finder, a website that helps women find access, says abortion is ‘legal throughout pregnancy in Minnesota. There is no ban or limit on abortion in Minnesota based on how far along in a pregnancy you are,’” she said.
“You signed a bill that makes it legal through all nine months. Is that a position you think Democrats should advocate for nationally?”

Walz replied by claiming that the restoration of Roe V. Wade is the campaign’s official position, forcing Bream to note that Minnesota’s laws go far beyond Roe V. Wade. “What you signed is there’s not a single limit through nine months of pregnancy. Roe had a trimester framework that did have limits through the pregnancy. The Minnesota law does not have that,” the Fox News host pointed out.
Walz opted to sidestep the question and redirect the conversation towards former President Trump, repeating the debunked claim that Trump is advocating for a national abortion ban. “He has said repeatedly that he will not sign a national abortion ban. Are you calling that just a flat out lie?” Bream followed up.
Walz answered, “Yes, of course. Senator Vance has in the past said so too. Now look, they may see this as an election issue. We see it as a right of women to make their own bodily decisions. And that’s what the states like my state have the ability to put that in.”

Bream also asked Walz about his habit of exaggerating, if not outright lying, about his life experiences and military service record. Since Walz was selected as the Democratic Party vice presidential nominee, it has been revealed that he misrepresented his military rank, claimed to have carried “weapons of war” in a combat zone despite the fact that he never deployed to one, and bizarrely claimed to have been in China during the Tiananmen Square protests.
Bream pointed to Walz’s numerous lies, as well as a few additional ones, before asking whether the American people can trust him. “Yeah, well I think they heard me. They heard me the other night speaking passionately about gun violence and misspeaking. I got to be honest with you, Shannon, I don’t think people care whether I used IUI or IVF when we talk about this. What they understand is Donald Trump would resist those things,” Walz said, adding that he has a tendency to “speak passionately.”
