Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and second gentleman Doug Emhoff were caught on camera allegedly leaving Orto Café in Phoenix, Arizona without paying for their coffee order. The scene occurred during a campaign stop ahead of several planned events in the state.

Walz and Emhoff, accompanied by Walz’s daughter Hope, Emhoff’s son Cole, and Cole’s wife Greenley Littlejohn, were visiting the café as part of a series of engagements in Arizona, following up on Emhoff’s campaign events and fundraisers held on Tuesday. The visit marked their first joint appearance since the Democratic National Convention in August.

However, the situation took an awkward turn as Walz and Emhoff appeared to walk away from the counter before paying. A video circulating on social media shows the two leaving the café while Walz’s daughter, Hope, addresses the cashier. According to the footage, she assures the staff that a campaign representative would be along shortly with a credit card to settle the bill.

At one point, Hope Walz is seen speaking to the cashier, appearing flustered and saying, “I feel exposed right now. Thank you so, so much. Someone will be up here today. Right, well, no, like he’s coming.”

This comes as both Walz and Emhoff are ramping up their campaign efforts in the battleground state. With Election Day just around the corner, Arizona voters can begin casting their ballots as early as this Wednesday. Early ballots will start being distributed across the state this week.

Arizona stands out as one of the few battleground states that could swing either way in the upcoming November 5th election, making its 11 electoral votes crucial on Election Night.
