President-elect Donald Trump’s recent appointment of Tom Homan as “border czar” stirred up quite the reaction from “The View” co-host Ana Navarro, who voiced her concerns over Trump’s renewed commitment to enforcing stricter immigration policies. Homan, who previously served as acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is known for his firm stance on border security and immigration enforcement.
A vocal critic of Trump’s policies, Navarro didn’t hold back in her reaction. “Look, Donald Trump won the electoral vote. He’s got the House, the Senate for all intents and purposes, and the Supreme Court,” she said. “A lot of people thought that when he talked about mass deportations, he wasn’t being serious. I don’t know how many times he had to say it for people to realize he was being serious.”
“When you talk about mass deportations, people think, oh, it’s just going to be the criminals. There’s not enough criminal aliens in the federal prison system for it to be mass deportations. What it means is grandmothers, what it means is brothers and aunts, what it means is abuelos y abuelas, it means dreamers, it means your family members, it means your colleagues,” Navarro continued.
“Look, America, you know, those of you who voted for Trump, this is what you wanted, this is what you voted for,” she finished.

Supporters of Trump, however, see Homan’s appointment as a long-overdue response to years of rising concerns over immigration enforcement. Homan, known for his “law and order” approach, aims to address a border crisis that spiraled out of control under the Biden administration.
Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday, “I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (“The Border Czar”), including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security.”
Trump finished, “I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job.”
In his first interview since his appointment on “Fox & Friends,” Homan shared, “I’ve been on this network for years complaining about what this administration did to this border. I’ve been yelling and screaming about it and what they need to do to fix it.”
“So when the president asked me, ‘Would you come back and fix it?’ Of course. I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t. I’m honored the president asked me to come back and help solve this national security crisis, so I’m looking forward to it,” he explained. “I think the calling is clear. I’ve got to go back and help because every morning… I’m pissed off with what this [Biden] administration did to the most secure border in my lifetime, so I’m going to go back and do what I can to fix it.”
Homan served as the Acting Director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from January 30, 2017, to June 29, 2018. He began his career with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) in 1986 and later transitioned to ICE when it was created in 2003. During his tenure at ICE, he was instrumental in implementing the immigration policies of the Trump administration, which focused on increasing deportations and raids targeting undocumented immigrants.
