Hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” jumped on the Trump-is-Hitler bandwagon Monday morning, echoing comparisons of his Madison Square Garden rally made by Hillary Clinton, Vice President Kamala Harris, and other top Democrats to the Nazi Party’s hateful 1939 gathering there right before the start of World War II.
Mika Brzezinski appeared visibly shaken while downplaying scenes from Sunday Night’s expansive Manhattan rally where thousands turned out to hear from former President Donald Trump. “I think a lot of people are seeing that rally at Madison Square Garden, seeing all those people, doesn’t mean he’s going to win the race,” she told co-host Joe Scarborough and others. “But my point is it’s discouraging that so many people would gather and rally to hate, to hate speech in America. It’s discouraging, and it hurts.”

Much of the mainstream media’s coverage has centered on crude jokes told by pro-Trump comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, most of which were right on target Sunday night. However, one line comparing Puerto Rico to a “floating island of garbage” has drawn outsized attention during the home stretch of the election, forcing the Trump campaign to distance the former president from Hinchcliffe’s remarks and providing fodder for Brzezinski. “Americans, who are American citizens, are hearing hate like that, it’s discouraging Joe… I just think it’s important to look at the situation, and it’s not just ‘oh my gosh’ about the race, it’s ‘oh my gosh, how did we get here, where a stadium of people come to hate?’ That’s a different country, a different time,” she said.
Scarborough comforted his wife and co-worker, saying Democrats would “get past that” if they “work harder and win.” The former congressman’s empty promises were roundly mocked online after critics compared them with others expressing his blind optimism about how well Harris is doing and how “smart” she is.

“Typical cat lady behavior,” one viewer wrote on X, posting a photoshopped image of Brzezinski holding a cat. Others cited the “joy” emanating from a Harris rally in Dallas over the weekend where a white female supporter was restrained by others after screaming in the face of a young girl sitting in a stroller. “Your daddy’s a b****!” the woman, who remains unidentified, yelled after the girl’s father exchanged unpleasant words with the rally goers.
“They’re at the 100% lies stage because they have nothing else. That rally was electric. It had the atmosphere of a convention and there was nothing but love happiness and the joy that Democrats so desperately claim they have,” wrote another MSNBC critic who was at the Trump rally.

Another summed up the on-air venting nicely. “I think that Mika could benefit from an extra session with her therapist,” they wrote. Another quipped back, “Any therapist would recommend that ongoing sessions are needed.”
