President Donald Trump gave the world its first look at the newest member of Vice President JD Vance’s family — a baby boy born Sunday morning at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Trump posted the announcement on Truth Social Monday morning, celebrating the arrival of Alec Neel Vance.

“Congratulations! A perfect baby boy for the wonderful Vance family.”

The photo shows Alec swaddled in his older brother’s lap as his older sister looks down at him. The image marks the first public glimpse of the Vance family’s fourth child.

Alec’s birth is historic — Second Lady Usha Vance became the first sitting U.S. second lady to give birth in more than 150 years.

Vice President Vance shared the news Sunday with a statement thanking the Walter Reed staff.

“Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother. The incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing. We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”

In a recent interview with The Blaze‘s Allie Beth Stuckey, Vance explained the decision to expand his family — a conversation that intensified after the passing of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

Kirk was targeted in Utah on September 10th while speaking. The next day, the Vances canceled their 9/11 trip to Ground Zero to fly Kirk’s body and his wife, Erika Kirk, home to Arizona on Air Force Two.

Vance said the conversation with Erika Kirk left a lasting impact.

“We talked with Erika for a while, of course, about Charlie, but then she sort of just makes this observation through her tears that she really wishes they had had more kids. … And for me, at least, that like really drove it home.”

Usha became pregnant approximately six weeks later. She was nearing age 40 at the time, but both she and the vice president had been discussing another child.

The Vance family now includes four children — three older siblings and newborn Alec Neel Vance.
