Corey Comperatore’s fire gear will be on display in the bleachers he was sitting in when he was shot and killed during a Trump Butler, PA Trump rally on July 13 when the former president returns to Butler on July 13.
Comperatore, a retired firefighter from Buffalo, Pennsylvania, was killed when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from a nearby rooftop. The first volley of shots struck Trump supporters Jim Copenhaver and David Dutch, leaving them critically wounded. Comperatore then told his family to get down and was shielding his daughter when a second volley of shots rang out.
Comperatore was struck in the head during the second volley and was unable to be saved after a nearby doctor attempted to provide life-saving aid.

Trump vowed to return to Butler, Pennsylvania for a rally that will serve as a celebration of Comperatore’s life, as well as first responders and bystanders who were affected by the shooting.
On Saturday, thousands of Trump supporters flocked to the rally site hours ahead of the former president’s arrival. The rooftop from which Crooks fired was now covered by a counter sniper, while the former president’s podium is now concealed by bulletproof glass.

“He definitely was a hero,” said Helen Comperatore, Corey’s widow, in an interview with WTAE. “He saved his wife, he saved his child and he was just the best guy. He was just the best.”
“He was just a wonderful man, and I want everybody to try not to remember him as the man that was shot at the rally,” Helen Comperatore told the outlet. “Just try to remember Corey as, he was a great man that was a great father. He was a great husband.”
Comperatore’s family will be in attendance for Saturday’s rally.
