Pat Sajak posted a retirement update June 14 that had fans doing a double-take — the former “Wheel of Fortune” host claimed he moved to Montana while standing in front of an ocean, palm trees, and a tropical pool.
The 79-year-old shared a video on X wearing a striped collared shirt, khakis, and sunglasses with the caption “Update on life.”
“Hi! I know a lot of you have been wondering, asking me how I’m doing, and I’m enjoying life,” Sajak said in the clip. “I moved here to Montana and everything is going just great. So, I just want to say hello.”

Fans immediately caught the geographical impossibility and flooded the comments with mockery.
“Wow! I did not know that Montana had palm trees and beaches 😁,” one person wrote.
“I didn’t know there’s water in Montana 😆” another said.
Other responses included “Ah, yes. The beautiful beaches of Montana,” and a clever nod to the game show: “Pat, can I have letters ‘w’ ‘h’ ‘a’ ‘t’?”
“What a nice life — even though some is imaginary😁”
Sajak closed the video with his signature wit: “You’ll have to excuse me, I have some cattle to attend to. Here, boy!”
The legendary host stepped away from “Wheel of Fortune” in June 2024 after a four-decade run.
