The White House website was swamped on Monday afternoon as supporters of President Donald Trump flocked to his official page to view a movie trailer-style video teasing the historic actions he is already taking as the 47th president.
Four years after being run out of office, Trump returned in earth-shattering fashion, rolling out a new face to his social media presence made possible by the swagger and confidence he’s built back up in that time. The POTUS social media accounts across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok were turned over to Trump and rolled up beneath his new tagline, “America is BACK.”
This time around, Trump knows what he’s fighting for.
“Every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America,” he wrote on X. A 35-second video played snapshots of Trump entering the White House earlier in the day, saluting a fleet of helicopters flying overhead and disembarking Marine One.
A splash page at WhiteHouse.gov plays the video for visitors. Those who click on it may read a summary of President Trump’s flurry of day-one executive orders and biographies of Vice President J.D. Vance, First Lady Melania Trump, and members of his cabinet.
Harkening back to American greatness has been a hallmark of Trump’s political life. On Monday, he issued nearly two dozen executive orders unleashing policies he believes will do so.
“Today, I will sign a series of historic executive orders,” Trump teased in his inaugural address. “With these actions, we will begin complete restoration of trust and common sense.”
Of them, 10 orders relate to securing the southern border in myriad ways, from deploying armed forces to continuing construction of a U.S.-Mexico border wall. DEI policies in the military will be rescinded, as will a non-binary gender option on government documents.
The economy, he continued, will benefit from an explosion in domestic energy production, and he has ordered every member of his cabinet to flex their political muscles toward lowering the cost of every day goods for most Americans. A new agency, dubbed the External Revenue Service, will chase freeloading foreign nations for their fair share rather than siccing the IRS on U.S. taxpayers.
“We will begin to overhaul our trade system to protect American workers and families. Instead of taxing citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax other foreign countries to enrich our citizens,” Trump said. “For this purpose, we are establishing the External Revenue Service to collect all tariffs, duties, and revenues. It will be massive amounts of money pouring into our treasury coming from foreign sources. The American Dream will soon be back and thriving like never before to restore competence and confidence to our federal government.”
