Midland Police Kill Active Shooter After 11 Injured, 1 Dead

Police in Midland, Texas killed an active shooter Friday afternoon following a deadly standoff that left at least one person dead and eleven others injured, city officials confirmed.

The City of Midland announced the suspect’s death at 12:40 p.m. local time in a statement posted to X.

“The active shooter incident has been resolved, and the suspect is confirmed deceased. The scene remains active and has not been cleared. Road closures in the area are expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future as the investigation continues.”

Midland Mayor Lori Blong confirmed eleven people were hurt and at least one person died as a result of the alleged shooting, according to ABC News.

Nine victims were transported to a local hospital. Five are stable, while four others were receiving surgery, hospital officials told the outlet.

Road closures in the area remain in place as the investigation continues.
