Fresh off his interview with former President Donald Trump, podcast superstar Joe Rogan is slated to host Trump’s running mate for a blockbuster sequel.
Two individuals close to the Trump campaign confirmed to the Guardian on Tuesday that Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) will make his own appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” the world’s most popular podcast followed by 14.5 million listeners on Spotify. Rogan, who also runs video of his podcast on his YouTube page, racked up more than 26 million views in 24 hours after interviewing Trump where the two spent three hours covering a wide range of topics, including what Trump called his “weave” when transitioning from one issue to the next during his speeches. According to those insiders, the Trump team believes Rogan’s show is among the most fertile ground for cultivating low-propensity young male voters who need to be juiced to turn out for this election.

Vance is expected to sit with Rogan at 9 a.m. on Wednesday for his own three-hour episode, the two sources said. Rogan, who has not endorsed in the presidential race, has frequently been sympathetic to Trump’s message though hasn’t shied away from giving Vice President Kamala Harris equal time. In a social media post on Monday, Rogan confirmed he continues to haggle with the Harris camp over the terms of her own three-hour sit-down on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Party insiders have privately fretted that Harris, in seeking to woo female voters with a slew of events geared towards reproductive rights, is ceding too much ground to Trump and Vance when it comes to male audiences where Republicans traditionally enjoy a modest lead.
“For the record the Harris campaign has not passed on doing the podcast,” Rogan wrote Monday on X. “They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have had to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour. I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin. My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being.”

An estimated 134 million Americans listen to podcasts, a sizable percentage of the population that exploded during the pandemic. Rogan, a former stand-up comedian, TV show host, and MMA broadcaster, has been the most successful among all hosts and is believed to be worth over $200 million, according to Wall Street estimates. Competitors include Alexandra Cooper of “Call Her Daddy,” the industry’s raunchy top show geared toward younger female audiences. Harris sat with Cooper last month for more than an hour, centering her remarks on abortion and hysterically warning that women would be relegated to second-class citizens if Trump returns to the White House.
