Fox Host Concha Slams Colorado Socialist Kiros as ‘Anti-American Candidate’

Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha unloaded on Melat Kiros, the Democratic Socialist running for Colorado’s 1st Congressional District, calling her “another foreign-born, anti-American candidate” during a Tuesday appearance on Fox News.

Kiros, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America born in Ethiopia but raised in the United States, has racked up endorsements from Bernie Sanders and the DSA. She’s challenging 30-year incumbent Rep. Diana DeGette in Denver’s deep-blue district.

“Here we have another foreign-born, anti-American candidate who will win in this district. You look at any polling that’s coming out of there, this could be easily a double-digit victory for Melat Kiros.”

Concha targeted Kiros’s platform — abolish ICE, Medicare for All, the full socialist wish list — and her refusal to call a Boulder firebombing attack antisemitic.

When pressed on the attack, Kiros dodged, claiming she couldn’t speak to the attacker’s intent.

Concha didn’t buy it.

“I mean, who cares what’s in that person’s heart? That person needs to go to jail,” Concha said on Fox & Friends First.

The Fox host framed Kiros as part of a broader national surge of socialist candidates winning in blue cities — New York, Seattle, Denver, and Washington, D.C.

Colorado used to be a purple swing state. Not anymore.

“We just saw it last week, three Democrat Socialist, which again is the biggest oxymoron ever to put Democrat and socialist in the same sentence,” Concha said.

He argued Republicans should seize the contrast: socialist extremism versus American values. Keep the message simple.

“Just make it a very simple choice for voters,” Concha said.

If Kiros wins, it’s another win for the socialist movement — and another data point for Republicans heading into the midterms.
