The border security transformation under President Trump has delivered a stunning result: fewer than 40 illegal aliens are evading capture each day nationwide, according to exclusive Border Patrol records reviewed by Breitbart Texas.
That’s a 98.5 percent reduction from the record-breaking daily peaks of more than 2,000 got-aways set during the Biden Border Crisis in 2023.
Border Patrol recorded fewer than 550 known got-aways over a fourteen-day period during the first weeks of September — a collapse from the 400,000+ who evaded apprehension in just the first six months of fiscal year 2023 alone.
A source within U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed the figures, which track known visual sightings of illegal aliens who successfully evade apprehension. The count comes from agents on routine patrol, stationary game cameras, manned and unmanned aerial assets, third-party reports, and old-school sign-cutting tactics that detect disturbances on the ground.
The numbers tell the story — but so do the boots on the ground.
Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe told Breitbart Texas the change is visible on local ranches. Reports of illegal aliens crossing private property have dropped significantly.
“Our deputies have only encountered two smuggling cases on our roadways since January. It’s an unbelievable change, and one we’re happy with,” Coe said.
During the Biden crisis, Coe’s deputies routinely found themselves in high-speed pursuits that ended in extensive property damage and even loss of life. In one December 2022 incident, four illegal aliens died in a rollover crash after being ejected from the vehicle they were being transported in — just eight miles outside Brackettville.
Eagle Pass, Texas — the epicenter of the Biden border collapse in late 2023 — has undergone a major transformation. Beto Garza, the city’s Assistant Chief of Police, says his officers now encounter only an occasional handful of illegal crossers while assisting Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star.
Garza credits the overwhelming law enforcement presence in the small border town. “There are Border Patrol agents on patrol everywhere, and the Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol troopers are out in large numbers under Operation Lone Star as well,” Garza told Breitbart Texas. “Practically everywhere you look, there are law enforcement officers on patrol.”
Other border regions outside Texas are seeing the same collapse. In Douglas, Arizona, one CBP source told Breitbart Texas that Border Patrol agents now see only small groups of illegal aliens crossing through the desert — a region where groups of more than 100 were routinely encountered at the peak of the Biden crisis.
The cartels are getting desperate. The source said smugglers recently resorted to cutting a lock on a flood gate and attempting to drive multiple vehicles fully loaded with illegal aliens into the United States. The entry was detected as it happened, and every vehicle that attempted to enter was disabled or turned back to Mexico by Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement partners.

That tactic, the source said, is a sign the human traffickers are becoming desperate as crossing the border has become far more difficult after strict border security policy changes enacted by the Trump administration took effect.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, there have been zero illegal aliens released to pursue asylum at the southwest border during the last 16 months.
Those attempting to enter the United States illegally are also finding a more robust Border Patrol securing the border between ports of entry. In late June, CBP announced that the United States Border Patrol had reached the historic milestone of 21,271 agents serving on the front lines of the nation’s borders — the highest staffing level in decades.
The contrast with the Biden years couldn’t be sharper. In April 2023, more than 400,000 illegal aliens evaded apprehension during the first six months of that fiscal year — a daily average of more than 2,200 got-aways.
Now, fewer than 40 per day.
