Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent flipped the script on Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., during a tense budget hearing Wednesday — reminding the Democratic senator about unanswered questions surrounding his son’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
“We would like to hear what Adam Wyden and Jeffrey Epstein talked about,” Bessent said, referring to emails connecting the senator’s son to the disgraced financier.
“DID YOUR SON AND JEFFREY EPSTEIN TALK ABOUT POLE DANCING AS HE BEGGED HIM FOR MONEY?”
The confrontation came after Wyden levied accusations of the Trump administration’s “corrupt” dealings. Bessent fired back with specifics — and the Democrat suddenly had nothing to say.
Epstein died in prison on sex trafficking charges in 2019. Late last year, the DOJ released troves of Epstein documents, unveiling a slew of new names with connections to the infamous figure.
Among them: emails from Adam Wyden to Epstein, asking for support on a business venture.
“Jeffrey, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to meet with me. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and hope my passion and dedication for my business came through in the meeting,” the younger Wyden wrote in April 2016.
“I intensely appreciate like-minded individuals and would very much look forward to having you join us at the fund.”
The emails came after Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution in Florida in 2008. It remains unclear what business venture Adam Wyden discussed with Epstein or what the pair talked about in their meetings.
Bessent didn’t stop with the Epstein receipts. He reminded viewers that Adam Wyden had a history of investing in off-color markets.
“Your son’s largest investment position was Rick’s Cabaret,” Bessent said, referring to a series of strip clubs.
Wyden — who has spent months hammering the Trump administration over its own Epstein connections — offered no response to Bessent’s jabs.
