In a truly astonishing turn of events, a boy kidnapped seven years ago and featured on a Netflix show has been discovered by law enforcement in Douglas County, Colorado. This unexpected breakthrough came on February 23, during a seemingly unrelated home burglary investigation.

The sharp-eyed deputies from Douglas County encountered 14-year-old Abdul Aziz Khan while responding to a call about two suspicious individuals entering a house on the market. According to KDVR-TV, the deputies found two children in a vehicle parked outside the property, one of whom was identified as Khan. The identity of the second child remains undisclosed.

The burglary suspects—a man and a woman—claimed to know the realtor. However, after a four-hour investigation, deputies unraveled a stunning truth.

The woman was none other than Rabia Khalid, 40, who was wanted for kidnapping, and her companion was her husband, 42-year-old Elliot Blake Bourgeois.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children states that Khalid is Khan’s non-custodial mother. The saga began on November 27, 2017, when Khalid allegedly abducted Khan from his father’s residence in Atlanta, Georgia, amidst a bitter custody dispute.

On the day of the abduction, Khalid was supposed to attend a custody hearing in Atlanta but chose instead to flee with her son and new husband, Bourgeois. Despite relentless efforts from the U.S. Marshals Service, spanning 11 states, Khalid and Khan remained undetected.

The case even captured national attention by featuring on Netflix’s “Unsolved Mysteries.”

With their apprehension, Khalid and Bourgeois now face a multitude of charges, including second-degree kidnapping, forgery, and identity theft. Khalid has nine charges against her, while Bourgeois faces 14. Each has a hefty bond set at $1 million.

Khan’s family expressed their immense relief in a heartfelt statement: “We’re overwhelmed with joy that Aziz has finally been found. We want to thank everyone for their support over the last seven years. We specifically want to recognize the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for their exceptional work in solving this case. Now, as we navigate the next steps, we ask for privacy so that we can move forward as a family and heal together.”
