In an astonishing revelation, Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice Chair David Hogg candidly expressed his views on democracy during a recent CBS News interview. The 25-year-old, renowned for his anti-Second Amendment activism after the Parkland shooting, shockingly stated that democracy is at the heart of America’s current troubles.
We go out there as Democrats all the time and say democracy is the most important thing. We have to defend democracy.
We fail to acknowledge that this generation, democracy is what put us through school shooter drills and school shootings. It’s what’s put us through the climate crisis and so much more.
What we have to do is prove that democracy matters by standing up to the special interests that are killing the American dream and making our young people lose faith, not only in our party, but the future of this country. That is why we’re doing this.

It seems Hogg inadvertently pointed out that democracy is indeed the reason his party isn’t fully realizing its objectives. In a testament to the power of democracy, the 2024 elections saw President Trump secure a landslide victory, alongside Republicans gaining majorities in both the Senate and House of Representatives, providing a mandate to carry forward their policy agenda.
Hogg made these remarks after unveiling a $20 million initiative aimed at backing primary challenges against older Democratic incumbents. His vision seeks to invigorate the party with fresh energy.
We have a culture of seniority politics that has created a litmus test of who deserves to be here,” he said in an interview with Politico.
”We need people, regardless of their age, that are here to fight,” he continued.

Such bold strategies have understandably unsettled the Democratic establishment. Notably, veteran strategist James Carville labeled Hogg a “contemptible little twerp,” reflecting the tension within the party ranks.
In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin reiterated the party’s trust in primary voters to select general election candidates. While acknowledging Hogg’s fervor, Martin commended his dedication to the Democratic cause.
David Hogg is a passionate advocate, and we are grateful for his service to the Democratic Party, whether it be in his role as a D.N.C. vice chair or in an outside capacity,” he said.
