A disturbing incident unfolded during a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas, on April 2, when 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony allegedly fatally stabbed fellow student Austin Metcalf. In a surprising development, Anthony, who was initially detained on a $1 million bond, is now living comfortably in a $900,000 rented home within a gated community and has purportedly acquired a new vehicle after his bond was reduced.

Judge Angela Tucker, a Republican judge from Collin County, made the controversial decision to lower Anthony’s bond from $1 million to $250,000. This decision facilitated Anthony’s release under house arrest, monitored by an ankle bracelet.

Previously, it was reported that Anthony’s family intended to use a portion of the $400,000 amassed through online donations for their legal defense to relocate and ensure their security, citing alleged “racist threats” in the wake of Austin Metcalf’s tragic death.

After the bond reduction in the 199th Judicial District Court, which required only a 10% payment for release, Anthony is now reportedly residing in the upscale “Richwoods” gated community in Frisco, Texas. According to the Daily Mail, the family rents the home for approximately $3,500 a month, with three cars reportedly in the driveway: a white Suburban, a black Acura, and another sedan.

A local resident shared with the press that a new car appeared recently, evidenced by a temporary license plate set to expire on June 4. “He got a new car. If you look at the license plate, it’s got a paper tag and it says it expires June 4,” the neighbor disclosed.

Currently, donations for Austin Metcalf’s family total $371,296, raised primarily through a GoFundMe campaign spearheaded by his father, Jeff Metcalf. On the other hand, the fundraiser for Karmelo Anthony has accumulated $446,740 via GiveSendGo, indicating a surplus of at least $75,000 over Austin’s funds.

The tragic event saw Austin Metcalf die in his twin brother’s arms after being stabbed in the chest at the school event. According to the arrest affidavit, the incident began when Anthony was asked to relocate from under another school’s tent by Metcalf. The situation escalated, leading to Anthony allegedly unzipping his bag, making threats, and lethally stabbing Metcalf with a black knife. Witnesses recount Anthony’s subsequent flight from the scene and his arrest. Anthony’s defense? “He put his hands on me. I was protecting myself.”

What needs to be emphasized is this: Anthony brought a knife to a high school track meet.
