Republican Congressman Mike Kelly, leading the charge on the Congressional Task Force investigating the audacious July 13th attempt on President Donald Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, has hit a major roadblock. In an astonishing move, Congressman Kelly, despite his frustration over law enforcement withholding pivotal data, is himself withholding critical documents from the public eye.
When AbleChild, a staunch advocate for transparency, reached out to Congressman Kelly’s office for the Pennsylvania State Police Report and the Allegheny County Coroner’s Autopsy of Thomas Matthew Crooks, they were met with a cold “FOIA it” response. This is despite no legal barriers preventing their release. It’s imperative that American taxpayers, who footed the bill for this Task Force, gain full access to all documents gathered in their name.
While the Task Force’s diligent efforts resulted in a comprehensive 180-page report, it falls short when it comes to specifics. The public is still left in the dark about the shooter’s identity and the motives behind this heinous act. No substantial evidence emerges to conclusively pin Thomas Crooks as the shooter.
Chairman Kelly points fingers at law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, DOJ, and ATF, for their unyielding refusal to cooperate. Although armed with Congressional subpoena powers, these were merely brandished, never enforced.
The speculated narrative surrounding Thomas Matthew Crooks, the alleged assailant, is fraught with glaring inconsistencies. Crucially, no tangible evidence links Crooks to the body discovered on the AGR rooftop, nor is there a ballistic match to the alleged weapon used in the attack. Both the ballistics and autopsy reports remain under wraps.
The tangled web further convolutes with Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger’s contentious defense of local snipers, who reportedly abandoned their posts during the rally. Goldinger’s public disputes with both the Pennsylvania State Police and Secret Service only add layers to this mystery.
In matters as grave as a president’s attempted assassination, transparency isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. The American public demands clear answers, not bureaucratic smokescreens or obstructions. Congressman Kelly must act decisively and release all pertinent investigative reports. The continued secrecy not only undermines public trust but also raises questions about what’s truly being concealed.
