Anheuser-Busch cancels San Francisco Pride sponsorship.

In a bold move, Anheuser-Busch, the parent company behind iconic brands such as Bud Light and Budweiser, has decided to cancel its sponsorship of San Francisco Pride. This decision comes in the wake of a significant $27 billion loss in market value during 2023, following a controversial partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, which sparked a conservative boycott.

The ripple effect of Anheuser-Busch’s withdrawal has also seen other major companies, like Comcast, Diageo (the maker of Smirnoff), and wine producer La Crema, pulling their sponsorships. This has collectively resulted in a staggering $300,000 shortfall in funding for the event.

The brewery giant, along with the other sponsors, attributed their withdrawal to financial constraints. However, San Francisco Pride’s executive director, Suzanne Ford, remarked on the surprising nature of this development, describing it as “very abnormal.”

“I just interpreted that companies are making decisions that at this time it’s not good to be sponsoring Pride,” Ford told SFGATE. “I think in this political environment that they thought that was a risky decision. But that’s just me reading the tea leaves. I think for a long-term sponsor not to sponsor us, they are responding to what we are.”

In addition, earlier this month, Ford announced that San Francisco Pride would be ending its partnership with Meta, citing a misalignment with the event’s values. This move aligns with recent changes at Meta, such as the termination of diversity hiring and the easing of content moderation policies.

San Francisco Pride, recognized as one of the largest LGBTQ events globally, is set to occur on June 28-29, 2025, despite these financial setbacks. True patriots will be watching closely to see how this unfolds in the current political climate.
