In a bold move, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered a powerful rebuke to a French politician who had the audacity to suggest America should return the cherished Statue of Liberty. This response came during a press briefing on Monday afternoon, showcasing the patriotic spirit of America’s leadership.
A French leftist politician, Raphaël Glucksmann, recently called on the United States to return the Statue of Liberty, claiming that the U.S. no longer upholds the values the monument represents since its gifting by France in 1886.
Glucksmann, speaking to his Place Publique movement, criticized President Trump’s policies, stating, “We’re going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demonstrating scientific freedom, ‘Give us back the Statue of Liberty. We gave it to you as a gift, but apparently you despise it. So it will be just fine here at home,’” he whined.
He further added, “The second thing we’re going to say to the Americans is ‘if you want to fire your best researchers, if you want to fire all the people who, through their freedom and their sense of innovation, their taste for doubt and research, have made your country the world’s leading power, then we’re going to welcome them.'”
Fox News’s Peter Doocy, during the briefing, shifted the focus from other pressing issues to ask Leavitt her thoughts on Glucksmann’s comments. “Something different. There is now a member of the European Parliament from France who does not think the US represents the values of the Statue of Liberty anymore. They want the Statue of Liberty back,” Doocy queried. “So, is President Trump going to send the Statue of Liberty back to France?”
“Absolutely not,” Leavitt fired back, delivering a confident message to the radical-left bureaucrat. “My advice to that unnamed low-level French politician would be to remind them that it’s only because of the United States Of America that the French are not speaking German right now,” she added. “So, they should be very grateful to our great country.”

It’s high time that European nations like France realize the importance of expressing gratitude rather than indulging in anti-American rhetoric. Time and again, these nations rely on the world’s greatest country for assistance. Maybe, just maybe, they should start appreciating America and all it does for the world.
Indeed, Europe needs America far more than America needs Europe.
