Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has sparked controversy with her recent comments during an interview on the 19th Podcast. She boldly questioned the audience if anyone intended for their children to pursue low-wage jobs such as picking crops or cleaning hotel rooms. When no hands were raised, Crockett claimed that this is precisely why America requires millions of illegal immigrants, criticizing Donald Trump for his commitment to mass deportations.
How many of you are sending your kids to college to go and work on… Okay, well, guess who is working the farms? So that you can afford your food. So that you can have food. So that you can have food.
Now, how many of you are looking to send your kids into hospitality after this college education so that they can go and make the beds at the hotels?
How many of you are planning to send your kids to college, because that’s what we do here, we send everybody to college. How many of you are planning to send your kids to college, so that they can then go and build these houses?
So the reality is that, so long as we live in a capitalist society, there’s always going to be someone, or a group of people, that will do work that some of the rest of y’all don’t want to do.
These are the people that are really making us great in this country.
Her comments have been captured in a video clip that has been widely circulated online.

Despite her elite education, including attending a private school and training as a lawyer, Crockett has a reputation for making questionable statements. She has been criticized for her remarks, which some view as out of touch with American values.
Previously, she described President Donald Trump as an “enemy to the United States” for his efforts to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as detailed in this report. Moreover, she recently admitted to favoring Canada and Mexico over the United States amidst Trump’s trade negotiations. Crockett has also implied that Trump’s popularity stems from a lack of education among Americans, as noted in this article.
