One Graph Reveals the Insanity Behind Lindsay Clancy Defenders

The Lindsay Clancy case has ignited a disturbing internet firestorm. Her attorney freely admits she strangled her three children. Yet TikTok-addicted women have spun conspiracy theories trying to exonerate her — from “her husband did it” to claims of a nefarious doctor cabal.

Even more troubling: videos of women sympathizing with Clancy have gone viral. Some show mothers breaking down with text reading “Same, Lindsay.” Others show women throwing ice into bathtubs to vent rage.

A group of women gathered outside the courtroom to show support for Clancy. Some brought their children.

This psychopathic empathy — we’ve seen it on illegal immigration, abortion, and now child homicide — points to something deeply broken in our society. One graph explains the entire dynamic.

More than half of all leftist white women younger than 30 have been told by a medical provider they have a mental health issue, according to a 2020 Pew American Trends Panel.

Nearly 40 percent of liberal white women between 30 and 49 have been told the same. More than a quarter of leftist white women between 50 and 64 have.

Compare that to 27 percent of conservative white women and 28 percent of moderate white women younger than 30.

That research was conducted in March 2020 — before the Covid lockdowns melted brains nationwide and exacerbated mental health issues. The percentages are likely worse now.

Young women are by far the farthest-left group in the country. A whole cohort of women are afflicted by mental health issues at rates far exceeding the rest of the population.

They’ve become twisted up in tribalistic leftist politics that absolve them of accountability. Their toxic empathy causes them to defend actually evil causes — including the case of a mother who strangled her children.

Clancy’s defenders argue she was over-medicated to the point of negligence, causing psychosis. This does not free her from culpability. But there’s a kernel of truth to the broader problem.

Antidepressant prescriptions have become a plague. One study found nearly 28 percent of women had an antidepressant prescription, compared to 13.5 percent of men.

The American Psychological Association reported antidepressant usage among young women increased 63.5 percent from March 2020 to December 2022. Usage for young men did not increase or decrease.

The Clancy case represents just one outlet for the growing mental crisis among young women. Perhaps more disturbing than the phenomenon itself is the lack of a ready solution.

Without one, we can expect more cases like Clancy’s — and more deranged responses to them.
