President Donald Trump made clear Friday that the fight with Iran is far from over — and patriots should expect the U.S. to keep striking until Tehran’s regime “peters out” from mounting military losses.
Asked whether back-and-forth attacks could continue until Iran no longer has the capability to retaliate, Trump didn’t hesitate.
“YEAH, SURE, I THINK SO. I’D BE FOOLISH TO SAY NO. YOU KNOW, YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO KEEP YOUR GUARD UP.”
Speaking during a Cabinet meeting at Camp David, Maryland, Trump predicted Iran would “get weaker” with each U.S. strike — and eventually collapse under the pressure.
“They’ll get weaker. They’ll get a little stronger, maybe. But they’ll get weaker, and then they peter out,” Trump said.
The remarks amount to an acknowledgment that the five-month conflict could stretch on — even as Trump’s administration had earlier declared it decimated Iran’s military capabilities.
Trump framed the ongoing strikes as a path to total victory.
“I think we just want to win,” Trump said. “We’re doing very well. We’re trying to be nice — as nice as you can be in a situation like that — but they’re being decimated.”
He ticked off Iran’s mounting losses: “They have no navy. They have no air force. They have no anti-aircraft.”
“It doesn’t mean they don’t have any capability. They have some, but very little,” he added.
The latest wave of U.S. strikes hit dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets — including command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal defenses, and maritime assets — according to U.S. Central Command.
The renewed fighting followed the collapse of a June agreement between Washington and Tehran intended to end hostilities and reopen commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran torpedoed the deal in July by attacking vessels in the strategically vital waterway.
Trump also said he was “losing faith” in the prospect of reaching a new deal with Iran, accusing the regime of lying during negotiations.
“They do lie, and they do misrepresent,” Trump said. “All they do is make me angry.”
The White House had declared in April that U.S. forces achieved the objectives of Operation Epic Fury — destroying Iran’s Navy and its ballistic missile and drone capabilities. Yet Iran has continued launching missiles and drones at U.S. bases and threatening shipping lanes.
Trump’s Friday remarks marked a sharp shift from earlier in the week, when he said the United States was engaged in “very friendly negotiations” with Iran and saw “a good chance” of reaching an agreement. Iran denied direct talks were taking place but acknowledged mediators were relaying messages.
Oman, Qatar, Pakistan, and Egypt have tried to revive the June agreement. Those efforts have stalled over control of the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions relief, and Iran’s nuclear program — while the new exchange of attacks has further dimmed prospects of a deal.
The renewed conflict leaves no clear timeline for resolution as the U.S. approaches the November midterm elections — placing greater political pressure on Trump to show results.
