Fauci’s Diary Reveals Obsession With Fame While Americans Died

Sen. Rand Paul released Anthony Fauci’s personal diary entries from the Covid pandemic — and the documents expose a government official obsessed with media appearances, celebrity friendships, and his own growing fame even as Americans lost their freedoms and their lives.

The diary entries span December 2019 to December 2022 and paint a portrait of narcissism on a scale that would make even Hollywood blush.

Fauci — the nation’s highest-paid federal employee — filled page after page with records of his TV appearances, media clippings about himself, and fawning coverage from corporate outlets. “CNN” appears 275 times in the diary. “CBS” and “NBC” show up more than 100 times each.

The word “PRESS” appears almost daily, followed by lists of shows that featured Fauci.

But the diary doesn’t just reveal media obsession — it exposes deepening friendships between Fauci and the very journalists who were supposed to be holding him accountable.

On Feb. 27, 2020, Fauci wrote that Chris Cuomo called him and “says that he wants me on his show.” It “turned into an amazing day.”

A few months later, Fauci noted he was “becoming friends” with both Chris Cuomo and then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo. On March 11, he described watching CNN where “commentators,” including Chris Cuomo and Anderson Cooper, “all discussed me as the adult in the room and the person wew [sic] should all trust.”

On July 1, Fauci wrote: “Had dinner over Jake Tapper and Jen Tapper’s home in DC. Terrific couple. Friendship building.”

Later that month, Fauci recorded that Jake Tapper “woke me up” after he had gone to bed to vent frustration at Donald Trump’s criticism of him. Fauci dined with the Tappers again on Oct. 20, 2020.

The diary also reveals Fauci tracking his own “cult following” in real time.

In February 2020, a social media trend caught his eye: “an amazing twitter storm that was widely and virally tweated to not suppress the ‘great Fauci.’ I was getting hundreds and hundreds of emails of support. There is even a #freeFauci out there.”

On March 31, he referenced the Washington Post article “Fauci socks, Fauci doughnuts, Fauci fan art: The coronavirus expert attracts a cult following” and wrote: “Complete craziness with this Fauci cult hero stuff.”

But Fauci still forwarded the article to a colleague at the National Institutes of Health — and pasted the entire piece into his personal diary. He also included an Atlantic article titled “Why America Is Thirsty For Anthony Fauci,” which called him a “crushable” “pop star.”

As Fauci put it on April 7, 2020: “Press still hot and heavy about me.”

Perhaps the most grotesque entry came on May 21, 2020.

Fauci opened by noting that global fatalities from Covid had reached approximately 10,000 and U.S. losses had exceeded 270. Then he pivoted to this:

“Big front page article abut me appeared in the Washington Post. Very flattering. The situation with my national and international fame is explosive and really unimaginable. It is not hyoperbole [sic] to say that today I am the most famous and talked about person in the country and one of the most recognizable peson in the world. Countless profiles on me in multiple media. I cannot even read all the things that are written abuyt [sic] me since I am so busy….seriously. POTUS seems to be enamored of me even though I am taking the spotlight away from him.”

So even as lockdowns destroyed businesses, masks covered Americans’ faces, and the elderly were forced to face the end alone — there was a silver lining for Fauci.

He was getting more famous. And he was documenting every second of it.

Fauci once claimed that “attacks on me quite frankly are attacks on science.” He did home interviews with a portrait of himself in the background. The Washington Post even ran a story where Fauci provided commentary on portraits of himself.

The diaries confirm what patriots already knew: the man who locked down America cared more about his media tour than the Americans suffering under his edicts.
