The House Judiciary Committee holds a hearing Wednesday on conditions at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center at Delaney Hall, New Jersey โ a facility that has been under siege by anti-ICE protesters for months.
The hearing comes as protesters continue attempting to block traffic in and out of the facility while the Department of Homeland Security carries out President Donald Trump’s mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
The standoff began months ago when activists surrounded the New Jersey detention center, trying to obstruct ICE operations as the Trump administration ramps up enforcement nationwide.
In May, New Jersey deployed state police to control the protests. But demonstrations have continued despite law enforcement presence.

DHS pushed back hard in June against Democrat criticism of the facility, noting that health inspectors found no violations at Delaney Hall.
The agency also pointed out that New Jersey’s state prisons were significantly more dangerous than the ICE detention center โ a fact Democrats conveniently ignored while attacking federal immigration enforcement.
The hearing is expected to address ongoing operations at the facility and the sustained protest activity that has attempted to interfere with lawful deportations.
Trump has made mass deportation of illegal immigrants a cornerstone of his administration’s immigration enforcement strategy, with ICE facilities like Delaney Hall serving as critical infrastructure for processing and removing those in the country illegally.
