Trump Blasts Hochul for Blocking Data Centers — Calls Them ‘Liquid Gold’

President Trump went after New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Wednesday for halting construction of new data centers in the state — calling them job-creating money machines and warning the Empire State is handing billions to red states.

Hochul imposed a one-year moratorium on new data centers this month as national backlash to their explosive growth has increased in recent months. Trump, for his part, called them essential to America’s economic future and urged states to embrace them.

“One of the biggest Driving Forces in the Future for Jobs, are Data Centers. They are big, strong, bold, and Money Machines for the State in which they are built. Governor Kathy Hochul, for political reasons, has terminated all Data Centers being built, or to be built, in New York State.”

The president posted the statement on Truth Social, warning that companies are now looking to Alabama, Florida, Texas, and Arizona instead.

“These Companies are now being sought in Alabama, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and many other States,” Trump continued. “Both the Taxes and the Jobs amount to LIQUID GOLD!

He didn’t hold back on the consequences for New York.

“All of this Income, and other Benefits, will be going to Red States, and some Blue, where Data Centers are sought as Cash Cows, with Lower Taxes and Record Setting Jobs,” he said.

Trump also pushed back on energy-cost concerns — one of the main arguments Hochul and critics have used against data centers.

“They must pay for their own Water and Power, and any leftover goes back to the State and local Community,” the president said. “Data Centers are tremendous WINS for the States and Communities that are lucky enough to get them.”

Many data centers now produce their own electricity because local power grids can’t support their operations — meaning they’re not draining community resources the way opponents claim.

Trump closed with a direct challenge to New York and a warning about letting China win the AI race.

“New York should change its Policy, IMMEDIATELY,” he said. “The Radical Left Dumocrats must not be allowed to cause us to lose Data Centers, AI, and all of this incredible new Technology, to China, and other countries!”

The moratorium has already sent companies scrambling to other states — exactly what Trump warned would happen. Red states are rolling out the red carpet while New York locks the door.
