A significant shakeup has just taken place within the National Security Council, and it seems the fearless conservative journalist Laura Loomer might have had a hand in it. President Trump has reportedly dismissed at least three “neocon” staffers following Loomer’s recent visit to the Oval Office.
According to CNN, these dismissals came just a day after Loomer met with President Trump, where she allegedly urged him to remove several individuals from their positions, including Alex Wong, the principal deputy national security adviser. Axios reports that Loomer was incensed at the presence of multiple “neocons” who had somehow secured roles within the administration.
Among those terminated were:
- Brian Walsh, a director for intelligence and former lead staffer for Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the Senate Intelligence Committee.
- Thomas Boodry, a senior director for legislative affairs who previously served as NSA Director Mike Waltz’s legislative director in Congress.
- David Feith, a senior director overseeing technology and national security, with prior service in the State Department during Trump’s first term.
CNN also noted the possibility that more dismissals might have occurred, with Axios hinting that up to ten members of the NSC staff could have been shown the door.
The timing of these firings coincides with recent controversy surrounding Mike Waltz, who has come under fire for including Trump-critic Jeffrey Goldberg in a Signal group chat where strategic discussions involving Houthi terrorists were taking place. Additional revelations have emerged regarding Waltz’s use of Gmail for official communications and the creation of numerous Signal chat groups to discuss geopolitical matters.
“Out of respect for President Trump and the privacy of the Oval Office, I’m going to decline on divulging any details about my Oval Office meeting with President Trump,” she wrote. “It was an honor to meet with President Trump and present him with my research findings.”
“I will continue working hard to support his agenda, and I will continue reiterating the importance of, and the necessity of STRONG VETTING, for the sake of protecting the President of the United States of America, and our national security,” she added.
