Following Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky’s increased demands for territorial integrity, the situation in the region has escalated. It seems Kiev is bent on derailing the peace process, despite efforts by US President Donald J. Trump to mediate a ceasefire focused on energy and infrastructure.
In a flagrant act of defiance, Ukrainian forces targeted and destroyed the Sudzha gas metering station in Russia’s Kursk region. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, this assault serves no military purpose and blatantly violates the agreed ceasefire.

The Sudzha station is vital, being the only pipeline carrying Russian gas to the EU through Ukraine. This aggressive action has sparked international concern, especially given the recent dialog between Presidents Trump and Putin to maintain a peaceful ceasefire on energy infrastructure for a 30-day period.
Russian Foreign Office’s spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, issued a statement emphasizing the severity of the attack, where an UAV struck an energy infrastructure facility, causing significant damage.
“As is known, this facility ensures the transshipment of oil from railway tanks to the pipeline system of the international oil transportation company Caspian Pipeline Consortium.”
Zakharova further criticized Zelensky for disregarding the ceasefire agreement, highlighting that while Zelensky publicly accepted the initiative, his actions reflect the opposite.
“Zelensky and the Kiev regime have once again violated the understandings reached, thereby confirming their absolute inability to reach an agreement.”
❗️A criminal case has been opened in connection with the destruction of the Sudzha gas distribution station in the Kursk region by Ukrainian military forces, Russia’s Investigative Committee reported.
