As previously reported, actress Rachel Zegler from Disney’s remake of Snow White has been busy with damage control, attempting to retract some of her controversial remarks over the past few years. With the movie’s premiere just days away, several entertainment sources reveal that the film’s premiere will be significantly scaled back, especially regarding press and photographers.

It’s quite clear why Disney has chosen this path. They’re wary of giving Zegler another platform where she might say something that could further impact the film’s profitability.

Variety reports:

Disney Scales Back ‘Snow White’ Hollywood Premiere Amid Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot Controversies

Disney will host a Hollywood premiere for Snow White on March 15. However, the studio is opting out of its typical grand red carpet event. The afternoon will feature pre-party activities and a screening at the El Capitan Theatre. Stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, who portrays the Evil Queen, are expected to attend. But, notably, Disney won’t extend the usual invitations to a multitude of media outlets for cast and crew interviews.

Instead, only photographers and a house crew will cover the event. Despite not commenting, Disney’s decision comes amidst controversies surrounding director Marc Webb’s film, scheduled to hit theaters on March 21.

Political tensions have also stirred the pot. Zegler has publicly supported “free Palestine” on social media. In contrast, Gadot, an Israeli, has been a vocal advocate for Israel both online and during a heartfelt speech at the Anti-Defamation League’s annual summit in New York City on March 4. She expressed, “Never did I imagine that on the streets of the United States, and different cities around the world, we would see people not condemning Hamas, but celebrating, justifying and cheering on a massacre of Jews.”

It’s interesting to note how Variety attempts to balance the perspectives of Zegler and co-star Gadot. Yet, Gadot’s stance isn’t controversial at all.

As this drama unfolds, many are eagerly watching to see how Snow White performs at the box office. The outlook isn’t promising.
