The trade tensions between the United States and Canada are heating up, with no signs of cooling down anytime soon. As reported by The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradson, President Trump has reinstated tariffs targeting Canada, Mexico, and China. This decision comes under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and follows a temporary suspension during border security negotiations.
In a statement on Monday, Trump emphasized the non-negotiable stance, highlighting the “vast amounts of fentanyl” entering the United States. The Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, responded with reciprocal tariffs and a few choice words for Trump.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump announced his conversation with Trudeau regarding these tariffs. During the call, Trump criticized Trudeau for his role in America’s fentanyl crisis and teased him about not knowing the date of Canada’s next election.
“Justin Trudeau, of Canada, called me to ask what could be done about Tariffs,” Trump shared. “I told him that many people have died from Fentanyl that came through the Borders of Canada and Mexico, and nothing has convinced me that it has stopped.”
Trump further noted, “He said that it’s gotten better, but I said, ‘That’s not good enough.’ The call ended in a ‘somewhat’ friendly manner! He could not tell me when the Canadian Election is taking place, which made me curious, like, what’s going on here?”
In a parting shot, Trump stated, “I then realized he is trying to use this issue to stay in power. Good luck Justin!”
But Trump wasn’t finished. He continued to lambast Trudeau for contributing to the U.S. fentanyl crisis and highlighted the influx of illegal immigrants across the U.S.-Canadian border. Interestingly, Trump referred to Trudeau as “Governor” at this point.
“For anyone who is interested, I also told Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada that he largely caused the problems we have with them because of his Weak Border Policies, which allowed tremendous amounts of Fentanyl, and Illegal Aliens, to pour into the United States,” Trump declared. “These Policies are responsible for the death of many people!”
