New York man charged with attempted murder for allegedly hitting police officer with car
Erik Conover, known for his social media presence, is now facing attempted murder charges. In court, he adamantly denied the accusations and stated that the police had falsified the documents.
“I have everything right here, and it’s all falsified,” Conover declared during his arraignment.
“If anyone dares try to test my mental competence, I will eviscerate every single person with my intelligence right now,” he continued. “And that’s not being egotistical.”
According to the police report, the incident began with Conover allegedly speeding at 55 mph in a 35-mph zone. After an eight-mile chase, Conover stopped, but when an officer tried to calm the situation, Conover reportedly drove at him, hitting him in the leg, before speeding off for another 28 miles.
After allegedly hitting the officer, Conover continued to drive to the town of Carroll and was eventually chased down by deputies with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
The pursuit, which spanned 38 miles, concluded when state police deployed spike strips to stop Conover.
Keith Blair, representing the state as the Carroll County Attorney, emphasized, “You know, the state’s position is that when a law enforcement officer signals for you to pull over and stop, you should do so.”
