Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is in the hot seat once again, and this time it’s all thanks to a photograph. The Democrat governor, known for her frequent criticism of President Trump, found herself in an awkward position during an unexpected visit to the White House.
During a surprise meeting with President Trump, Whitmer was reportedly caught off guard and attempted to hide her face from photographers. This incident has only fueled the fire among Democrats who are already upset with her for meeting with the President.
According to The Hill, a new image emerged showing Whitmer concealing her face in the Oval Office while President Trump addressed the press. Her visit was initially intended for a discussion on tariffs and Michigan’s defense investments, but the photo-op seemed to be an unwelcome surprise for the governor.

Whitmer’s spokesperson explained that the governor was unexpectedly ushered into the Oval Office without prior knowledge of the event’s subject matter. Her office clarified that her presence was not an endorsement of any actions or statements made during the meeting.
Captured by Times photographer Eric Lee, the photo shows Whitmer standing beneath portraits of Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, using blue folders to shield her face from the cameras.
