America and Ukraine are on the brink of sealing a crucial ‘Minerals Deal.’ Thanks to the bold leadership of President Donald J. Trump, this agreement is expected to be signed next week. The announcement comes after Ukraine’s Yulia Svyrydenko disclosed that a ‘memorandum’ has already been signed with Commerce Secretary Scott Besset, marking a pivotal step forward.
According to Reuters, Svyrydenko stated, “Ukraine and the United States on Thursday signed a memorandum as an initial step towards the clinching of an agreement on developing minerals in Ukraine.” She expressed optimism, highlighting that this Memorandum of Intent lays the foundation for an Economic Partnership Agreement and the establishment of an Investment Fund for Ukraine’s Reconstruction.
We are happy to announce the signing, with our American partners, of a Memorandum of Intent, which paves the way for an Economic Partnership Agreement and the establishment of the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine.

President Trump, speaking alongside Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the Oval Office, confirmed, “We have a minerals deal.”
This historic deal has faced its share of hurdles, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky initially backtracking on agreements. Yet, under Trump’s steadfast leadership, the deal is set to proceed despite past tensions, including a dramatic incident involving Zelensky at the White House.
President Trump was candid, stating, “I’m not a big fan” of Zelensky, but emphasized he does not blame him for the ongoing conflict with Russia. Trump remarked, “I wouldn’t say he’s done the greatest job. I’m not happy with him, and I’m not happy with anybody involved.”

As details are finalized, Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, mentioned that the deal remains largely unchanged from previous drafts. “I think it’s an 80-page agreement and that’s what will be signed,” he noted.
Once signed, this agreement will grant the United States privileged access to Ukraine’s vast reserves of natural resources and critical minerals. This is seen as a repayment for the military aid provided to Kyiv during the Biden administration.
