The controversial drag group, known as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, has sparked outrage with their plans to host a trans-themed event on Easter Sunday at a public park. This event, which is targeting families and children, includes a provocative “Hunky Jesus and Foxy Mary” drag contest.

Under the theme “No Easter without T,” the event’s promotional flyer depicts a tattooed “Jesus” among men in drag, signaling the group’s intention to blend Easter traditions with controversial performances.

In a post on Instagram, the group announced, “We invite the community to celebrate our 46th Anniversary at Easter in the Park. In recognition of our trans brothers and sisters who are under siege.”

The festivities begin at 10:30 am on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Dolores Park with Children’s Easter, featuring an egg hunt and (of course) the Easter Bunny. The stage show begins at noon with special guests, Sister rituals, live music, performances by some of the city’s best drag and trans talent, and the legendary Easter Bonnet, Foxy Mary, and Hunky Jesus contests.

The Easter Bunny will greet families at the Children’s Easter event located on the east side of the park’s north field, near the corner of 18th and Dolores. Planned activities include an Easter egg hunt, bunny run relay games, story time, and a performance by Cheer SF, all starting at 10:30 AM.

The main stage activities kick-off at noon, featuring emcees Honey Mahogany, Alex U. Inn, and Sister Roma. The live performances will showcase transgender and gender-nonconforming artists, such as trans opera star Breanna Elyse Sinclair, Ronnie Reddick’s “I’m Every Woman” featuring The Ladies of AsiaSF 2.0, The Momma’s Boyz Hip Hop legends with Ariel B. and Lambert, and local favorite Pansy Division.

The group’s social media post highlights past Easter drag contest winners like “Historically Accurate Jesus,” “Transgender Maria de Guadalupe,” “Pro-Choice Mary,” and “Black Woman as God.”

In 2023, the group received controversial recognition from Major League Baseball and the LA Dodgers.
