Today, all eyes are on Arizona as Border Czar Tom Homan prepares to address a joint session of the Arizona Legislature. The focus is clear: securing the southern border, a mission that resonates deeply with Arizona’s Republican leadership.
Arizona House Speaker Steve Montenegro issued a statement underscoring the urgency of this mission: “Arizona is ground zero in the fight to secure our southern border and protect American communities.”
Speaker Montenegro emphasized Homan’s invaluable contributions, saying, “His firsthand experience and no-nonsense leadership are exactly what our members need as we advance our Majority Plan to promote public safety, preserve the American Dream, and protect the rights and liberties of every Arizonan.”
Homan’s address is anticipated to delve into the state’s participation in President Trump’s bold deportation and border security initiatives. However, the state faces potential hurdles with its radical left governor, Katie Hobbs, who is anticipated to resist any Republican-led efforts to halt the influx of violent criminals and terrorists that have emerged under Joe Biden’s policies.
U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan to Address Special Joint Session of the Arizona Legislature
STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Arizona House Speaker Steve Montenegro today announced that Tom Homan, the U.S. Border Czar under President Donald J. Trump’s administration, will address a special Joint Session of the Arizona Legislature on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in the House Chamber at the State Capitol. This event underscores Arizona’s leading role in confronting the border crisis and advancing public safety—a top priority for the House Republican Majority.
Appointed in November 2024, Mr. Homan brings over 30 years of border enforcement experience, notably as Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from 2017 to 2018. His direct approach and zero-tolerance policies are central to the national agenda of restoring order at the southern border and prioritizing the deportation of public safety and national security threats.
Speaker Montenegro reiterated, “Arizona is ground zero in the fight to secure our southern border and protect American communities. Tom Homan is a patriot who has dedicated his life to defending our nation’s sovereignty and keeping Americans safe. Now, as the Border Czar for President Trump’s administration, he’s leading the long-overdue federal effort to restore law and order.”
This address comes at a pivotal time as Republicans, fortified with stronger majorities, carry a clear mandate to act. The House Republican Majority Plan emphasizes secure borders, safer communities, and stronger protections for Arizona families, closely aligning with Mr. Homan’s mission at the federal level.
Homan’s remarks will touch on pressing border issues, the importance of federal-state cooperation, and strategies to counter the disorder of the past four years attributed to the Biden-Harris administration.
