A former Department of Health and Human Services employee thought he could garner sympathy in Congress, but instead, he found himself at the receiving end of a scathing retort from Senator Jim Banks (R-IN).
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has been executing wide-ranging layoffs, impacting about 10,000 full-time positions. As per a report from NBC News, these job cuts are part of a broader strategy by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to revamp the agency and “drain the swamp.” This transformative plan is in collaboration with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aiming to trim the health department’s workforce from 82,000 to 62,000.
One of the individuals who was let go in February decided to confront Senator Banks on Capitol Hill. The former bureaucrat trailed Banks, demanding an end to the job cuts initiated by the Trump Administration.
“Hi, I was a worker at HHS. I was fired illegally on February 14th,” the ex-employee stated to Banks. “There are many people who are not getting social service programs, especially people with disabilities.”
He then questioned Banks, “Are you going to do anything to stop what’s happening?”
Senator Banks, however, showed no leniency towards the insistent former worker and handed down a dose of reality.
“You probably deserved it,” Banks retorted.
The leftist was left speechless, expecting compassion but receiving the truth instead.
“I deserved it? That’s great to hear. Wow,” he responded. “Why did I deserve it?”
Banks delivered a final blow right before the elevator doors shut.
“Because you seem like a clown,” Banks remarked with a smirk.
WATCH:
LMAO! Who knew Senator Jim Banks was so funny!
WORKER: “I was a worker at HHS. I was fired…are you gonna do anything?”
BANKS: “You probably deserved it. Because you seem like a clown.”
