Romania’s Judicial Crisis: Soros and Biden-Linked Judges Block Presidential Hopeful Georgescu

Romania is caught in a whirlwind of political unrest as the Constitutional Court’s shocking decision to overturn the first-round presidential election—and subsequently bar frontrunner Călin Georgescu—has raised serious questions about the nation’s democratic integrity.

Critics are calling this move a coup, as three of the court’s nine judges face scrutiny for their connections to globalist networks. Two of these judges are linked to billionaire George Soros, while a third is associated with US President Joe Biden.

At the center of this storm is Judge Elena Tănăsescu, whose tenure as a board member of the Institute of Public Policy in Bucharest, funded by Soros’ CEE Fund, has drawn intense scrutiny. Critics argue that this institute is a tool for foreign influence, pushing a globalist agenda at odds with Romania’s sovereignty. Tănăsescu’s past role as an adviser to President Klaus Iohannis, a pillar of Romania’s entrenched political elite, only amplifies concerns over her impartiality. Her appointment to the Constitutional Court by Iohannis further raises eyebrows.

Another judge under fire, Bogdan Licu, has ties to Freedom House, an organization heavily funded by both USAID and Soros-affiliated entities.

Meanwhile, Livia Stanciu, the third judge in question, was lauded by then-Vice President Biden in 2014 for her judicial contributions in Romania, a nod that some see as politically motivated.

As tensions rise, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and his assistant James O’Brien are reportedly under investigation by US intelligence agencies for allegedly influencing Romanian authorities to annul the election, following directives from the Trump administration. This revelation, reported by a Swiss think tank, adds another layer to the controversy.

The court’s December 6, 2024, ruling voided Georgescu’s first-round victory, an extraordinary decision in the nation’s history. His liberal opponent, Elena Lasconi, was poised to compete in a decisive round on December 8, but the sudden court intervention halted the process, leaving many in disarray.

This legal upheaval has fueled widespread dissatisfaction, with both Romanians and international observers viewing the court’s actions as a corrupt effort to protect established interests.

Furthermore, the elimination of Marcel Ciolacu, a candidate preferred by Brussels and globalists, in the first round by a narrow margin, adds to speculation that the court’s intervention was strategically aligned with the Euro-Atlantic agenda.

Despite these setbacks, Georgescu’s popularity has surged, with polls indicating a potential outright victory in the rescheduled May election.

Georgescu wasn’t the only candidate barred. The Constitutional Court also disqualified SOS Romania Leader & MEP Diana Iovanovici-Sosoaca, citing her anti-NATO and EU positions as ‘incompatible’ with Romania’s democratic values. This decision is widely viewed as a suppression of dissenting voices.

Before his disqualification, Georgescu pledged to hold accountable those he accuses of “high treason” and vowed to dismantle Soros-linked networks in Romania, a declaration likely unsettling to the globalist establishment.

As the battle for Romania’s political soul intensifies, the issues of judicial independence, foreign influence, and the sanctity of the electoral process remain at the forefront of this national crisis.
