In a recent speech at Grace Baptist Church in Connecticut, Democrat Jasmine Crockett sparked controversy by claiming that America needs illegal immigrants because, “we done picking cotton.”
Crockett, who attended elite private schools, argued that immigrants are essential for tasks Americans supposedly refuse to do.
Democrat Jasmine Crockett: “I had to go around the country and educate people about what immigrants do for this country or the fact that we are a country of immigrants. The fact is, ain’t none of you all trying to go and farm right now. Okay, so I’m lying. Raise your hands. You’re not. You’re not. We done picking cotton. We are.”
It’s astonishing she seems unaware of Eli Whitney’s cotton gin and its historical impact. The implication that illegal immigrants are picking cotton in the modern South is as outdated as it is offensive.
Yet, the Democrats welcome her rhetoric as part of their future vision!
