The Pentagon is taking decisive action to address national security leaks.

In a bold move to safeguard our nation’s security, the Pentagon has declared a rigorous investigation into recent “unauthorized disclosures” of sensitive information. This comprehensive probe may include the use of polygraph tests on Department of Defense personnel, underscoring the seriousness of this initiative.

Joe Kasper, the chief of staff to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, issued a memo on Friday to notify Department of Defense employees about the potential use of lie detector tests. The memo, as reported by The Hill, stated:

“Recent unauthorized disclosures of national security information involving sensitive communications with principals within the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) demand immediate and thorough investigation.”

To tackle these leaks head-on, Kasper’s memo specified a request for assistance from the Director for Defense Intelligence, emphasizing coordination with various Department of Defense stakeholders and federal partners. The memo stresses that polygraph tests will be conducted “in accordance with applicable law and policy.”

Kasper further warned that identifying those responsible for leaks will lead to legal action:

“Information identifying a party responsible for an unauthorized disclosure will be referred to criminal law enforcement for prosecution.”

While the specifics of the leaks sparking this investigation remain undisclosed, speculation arises about a connection to a New York Times report. The report suggested that Elon Musk was set to receive a briefing on U.S. military strategies for a potential conflict with China during a Pentagon visit.

Both Musk and President Donald Trump have refuted the report. Musk labeled it “pure propaganda” and called for prosecuting individuals who leak “maliciously false information” to the media. The memo’s release closely followed Trump’s response to these claims.
