The sweeping investigation into unauthorized leaks at the Pentagon is continuing to make waves, with yet another top official being removed from their post.
In a recent update from Politico, it was reported that Colin Carroll, chief of staff to Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg, was escorted out of the building on Wednesday. Carroll, a Marine Corps Reserve officer, has a notable background, having worked with Anduril, a defense contractor known for autonomous systems. However, he also has a controversial past, having been dismissed by the Biden administration for allegedly fostering a hostile environment at the Pentagon’s former Joint Artificial Intelligence Center.
Earlier developments in this situation include the administrative leave of Deputy Chief of Staff Darin Selnick, another high-ranking official, as part of the same investigation. Selnick, an Air Force veteran and a former senior adviser to Concerned Veterans for America, was removed from the Pentagon on Tuesday, as previously reported by sources. This action followed an order for an investigation into leaks by Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Additionally, Dan Caldwell, a top advisor to Pete Hegseth, was also escorted out of the Pentagon for what was described as “an unauthorized disclosure.” His suspension followed a March 21 memo initiating the leak investigation. Caldwell’s involvement in the Mike Waltz Houthi Signal chat group has raised questions about the connection to his removal, though confirmations remain pending.
This developing story highlights the ongoing efforts within the Pentagon to address and curb unauthorized disclosures of sensitive military information. Updates will follow as more details emerge.
