In a story that should send shockwaves across the nation, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an MS-13 gangster from El Salvador, has been at the center of a controversy that highlights the dangerous leniency in current immigration policies. Despite being allegedly involved in human trafficking and reportedly appearing on a terrorist watch list, Abrego Garcia was released by the FBI following a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) detention in December 2022.

The Tennessee Star uncovered this alarming story, detailing how a THP officer initially detained Abrego Garcia after discovering he was transporting seven individuals from Texas to Maryland without a valid driver’s license. Following standard procedure, the officer reached out to the FBI for guidance, only to be told to release the suspect.

But the situation was far more grave than it seemed. Abrego Garcia, implicated in human trafficking, was allegedly on a terrorist watch list at the time. The Biden administration’s FBI prioritized releasing a potential threat over the safety of American citizens.

According to The Tennessee Star, conflicting reports exist about the terrorist watch list status. One source claims Abrego Garcia was on the list, while another suggests it might have been one of the passengers. Regardless, the FBI’s decision to release all individuals involved raises serious concerns about national security priorities.

Under President Biden’s leadership and former FBI Director Christopher Wray, the THP was instructed to photograph the group and document the vehicle’s contents before releasing them. This compliance illustrates the federal government’s troubling stance on immigration and public safety.

In contrast, the Trump administration decisively deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia, citing his unlawful entry into the U.S. in 2011 and his affiliation with the MS-13 gang, a recognized foreign terrorist organization. Despite the Supreme Court’s directives for Garcia’s return, he remains in El Salvador, a stance reinforced by President Nayib Bukele’s refusal to send him back to the U.S.
