In a deeply tragic turn of events, a fundraiser has successfully amassed over $164,000 on GiveSendGo in support of Karmelo Anthony’s family. Anthony stands accused of fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, a promising track star, during a track meet in Frisco, Texas, on April 2.

Austin Metcalf, a junior from Frisco Memorial High School, lost his life in the arms of his twin brother, following the violent confrontation. According to eyewitness accounts, the altercation began when Austin requested Anthony, a student from Frisco Centennial High School, to vacate a spot under the Memorial High School’s team tent. Moving Anthony’s backpack reportedly led to the tragic escalation, with Anthony pulling out a knife and fatally stabbing Metcalf in the chest. This harrowing incident was witnessed by over 30 students and staff.

The family of the accused is now portraying themselves as victims, rallying for support from those who believe Anthony acted in self-defense. The fundraising page states, “The narrative being spread is false, unjust, and harmful.” It continues, “As a family of faith, we are deeply grateful for all of your support during this trying period. Your prayers and assistance mean more to us now more than ever.” As of noon on April 7, contributions have reached $164,707, with a target of $200,000.

In contrast, a fundraiser organized for Austin Metcalf’s family has garnered over $250,000 on GoFundMe. The heartfelt description reads:

I am Jeff Metcalf. My son, Austin Metcalf, was tragically stabbed today at a school track meet. They were not able to save him. He was a bright young man with a great future ahead of him. He was a leader of men. His smile would light up the room. His passion for football was unbelievable. Voted team MVP this past season and carried a 4.0 GPA. He was looking forward to taking his game to the next level. His commitment, dedication, leadership, and sheer grit made him rise to the level of success that he desired. His twin brother, Hunter, played beside him. We will all remember him for the way he impacted others’ lives. I love you forever, son. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. God will take care of us till we meet again. RIP. Love, Dad

Karmelo Anthony has confessed to the stabbing and faces charges of first-degree murder. According to the arrest report, Anthony told authorities, “I’m not alleged, I did it,” while simultaneously claiming his actions were in self-defense.
