Ontario’s Premier Doug Ford is on a rampage, outraged by President Trump’s steadfast commitment to revitalizing American industries through bold tariff policies.
In a strategic move, President Trump announced a 25% tariff on foreign automobiles and key auto parts, a decision that will bring foreign competitors to the negotiation table. As America gears up for “Liberation Day” on April 2, these tariffs aim to restore the nation’s manufacturing glory.
Meanwhile, Premier Ford, leader of Ontario’s Progressive Conservative Party, reacted with a vow that can only be described as cruel. In a press conference held in Toronto, Ford spitefully declared his intention to retaliate harshly against Trump’s latest tariffs.
“I can assure you one thing,” Ford boldly proclaimed. “We’re gonna make sure that we inflict as much pain as possible on the American people.”
This kind of rhetoric is downright disgraceful.

Ford also expressed his desire to hit back at American auto exports, urging Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to “target American cars” in the government’s response.
“We buy as many cars off the U.S. as we sell down there,” Ford explained, reflecting a tit-for-tat mentality that does little to strengthen Canada-American relations.
Ford’s comments come on the heels of an earlier threat to cut off electricity to over a million Americans in New York, Michigan, and Minnesota if Trump persisted with his tariff initiatives.
In a boastful tone, Ford warned, “If he wants to destroy our economy and our families, I will shut down the electricity going down to the U.S. And I’m telling you, we will do it.”
However, Ford quickly reneged on this threat after President Trump signaled potential retaliatory measures against Canada, showing yet again that bold American policies can make foreign leaders reconsider their rash declarations.
