MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has witnessed a staggering drop in viewership, losing roughly a quarter of her audience since the 2024 election. This decline highlights a growing disillusionment among viewers who once tuned in eagerly, only to be left disappointed.
For years, Rachel Maddow has propelled narratives such as the Russia collusion hoax and other anti-Trump conspiracies, holding her audience’s hope for a bombshell revelation. Yet, as more viewers came to realize the anticipated bombshell was a mere illusion, they began to walk away.
The turning point? The election itself. Maddow, alongside her network, assured viewers of Trump’s impossibility to win again. But when he did, many felt deceived and subsequently switched channels.
FOX News reports:
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow sees double digit ratings drop since Trump’s win
Since President Donald Trump emerged victorious on Election Day, Rachel Maddow’s show has experienced a significant drop, losing around 22% of its viewers. Initially, “The Rachel Maddow Show” averaged 2.3 million viewers from early 2024 until Election Day. However, post-Trump’s victory through March 7, that number dwindled to an average audience of 1.8 million.
The situation is even more pronounced among the key demographic of adults aged 25-54, where the show suffered a 29% loss compared to pre-Election Day figures. This trend indicates that Maddow’s appeal has diminished, especially in the wake of Trump’s decisive victory over then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
Moreover, when comparing the first two months of 2025 to the same period in 2024, Maddow’s viewership has fallen by 24% both in total viewers and within the key demo. This underscores a waning interest from MSNBC viewers since Biden’s departure from the White House.
Recall Maddow’s impassioned rant about Joy Reid’s firing? It seems to have backfired.
Rachel Maddow’s rant at MSNBC bosses appears to have backfired spectacularly as 5M viewers fled the news program in a massive 22% ratings slump. The @Maddow Show dropped from 2.3M viewers to 1.8M viewers since the election of President Donald Trump…
