According to the LAPD, officers were initially tracking a suspect involved in a hit-and-run incident when they encountered Shriner in a neighboring yard carrying a handgun.
In their official statement, the LAPD detailed: “As the officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female, later identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in the yard of a neighboring residence armed with a handgun. The officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun numerous times; however, she refused. Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers, and an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred.”

Further investigation confirmed that Shriner had indeed discharged her weapon at officers. Evidence such as a shell casing and video footage revealed she ignored repeated commands to disarm and fired at LAPD officers, leading to her booking for attempted murder of a peace officer.
Fortunately, no officers or civilians sustained injuries during the incident. Shriner has since been released on a $1 million bond and is expected to appear in court on April 30.
Amidst this high-profile incident, Weezer remains on track to perform at the Coachella Music Festival on Saturday, as reported by NBC News.
