In a bold move that underscores the fight for judicial accountability, House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced an upcoming series of hearings aimed at bringing to light the political inclinations of federal judges. These hearings will scrutinize judges who have been using their benches to sidestep President Trump’s constitutional powers.

Speaking to Fox News’ Bill Hemmer and Brian Kilmeade, Jordan made it clear that his committee will dig deep into judicial overreach, particularly targeting Judge Boasberg for recent controversial rulings.

Jordan plans to address the misuse of nationwide injunctions and partisan-motivated decisions, such as Boasberg’s recent block on President Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act against Venezuelan gang members.

Jordan criticized Boasberg’s decision to issue a temporary restraining order on March 15, 2025, which halted deportations under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act—an action he views as constitutionally sound under Article II, Section 1.

Boasberg’s ruling, Jordan argues, is an unjust interference in executive power, given the gang members’ illegal entry and criminal conduct. This claim is bolstered by Boasberg’s role in the FISA court’s botched Trump campaign surveillance, implicating him further in decisions that appear to lack legal grounding.

Frankly, there’s the broader issue of all these judges’ injunctions, and then decisions like Judge Boasberg—what he’s trying to do and how that case is working. We’re going to have hearings on all of that, because particularly when you look at Judge Boasberg, it starts to look like this is getting totally political from this guy.

Jordan emphasized the House GOP’s dedication to curbing judicial overreach in a subsequent interview with Brian Kilmeade.

No, no, no. Look, everything’s on the table with us, particularly with Judge Boasberg, because what it looks like he did was so political. I mean, think about how dumb his decision was. He said, “Oh, you got hardened criminals who’ve done all kinds of bad things, members of a group here illegally—turn that plane around and bring those bad guys back to the country.” I mean, it’s a ridiculous decision.

To counteract these judicial actions, two main remedies are on the horizon:

  • Legislation to limit the reach of federal district judges’ injunctions to only the parties involved in the case.
  • Considering a rescissions package to redirect misallocated agency funds for meaningful purposes, such as military support.

Jordan also underscored the need for legislative measures, like the one sponsored by Senator Hawley, to reinforce jurisdictional limits on judicial rulings, aiming to protect President Trump’s initiatives from widespread judicial interference.

His actions are a call to arms for conservative lawmakers determined to defend presidential authority and uphold the law of the land.
